Details: Bite 4/8 on this day.A 12mm pastel pink fishmeal pop-up presented on a helicopter rig above a light scattering of tiny fishmeal boilies proving to be successful.I always give extreme thought and consideration to how my rig is going to be presented on the lakebed. By fishing a ‘helicopter’ arrangement you can easily adjust how the rig will lay on the bottom, by sliding the top bead up or down. As the lead plummets into the soft silt, sediment or low-lying weed, the critically balanced hookbait (or pop-up) will cause the rig to rise up the leader (sinking so much slower than the lead) before hitting the top bead and then slowly fluttering down to settle upon the lakebed. Super effective when casting to an area that has not been previously investigated, for example casting to a showing fish and not knowing the composition of the lakebed below. Not to mention its re-setting qualities, guaranteeing that you’re always presented, even if unwanted species may be tinkering around with the rig whilst waiting for the Carp to come along. Super effective, always!
