The Front Pit at Silver End will re-open from 8am on Tuesday 19th August.

We have had additional oxygenation running in two areas of the lake constantly throughout the closure period and we are pleased to report that the algae in the pit have now dissipated.

Thankfully no fish have been lost during this time which is always a risk with algal blooms and we would like to remind members, that this consistent hot dry weather continues to be a challenge for the fish and fishing clubs in general.

You can do you part in assisting the club and our cherished fish stock by;

Keeping all fish handling to a minimum and return your catch to the water as promptly as you can. Fish get very stressed by being handled and the impact of that handling is generally worse for the fish during prolonged periods of hot dry weather.

Check – Check your equipment, and clothing after leaving the water for mud, aquatic animals or plant material. Remove anything you find and leave it at the site.

Clean – Clean everything thoroughly as soon as you can, paying attention to areas that are damp or hard to access. Use hot water if possible.

Dry – Dry everything for as long as you can before using elsewhere as some invasive plants and animals can survive for over two weeks in damp conditions. This sunny weather gives us all an opportunity to properly dry our equipment in the sunlight.

Tight Lines!
